The Picotronix Ecosystem

  • Digital Storage Oscilloscope (DSO) Pods – slow to very fast (e.g.,100 Mega Samples/sec) and various resolutions.
  • Logic State Analyser (LSA) – multiple resolutions and logic families.
  • Waveform Generator (and then some!).
  • Signal Conditioners.
  • Pico Educator Pods.
  • More to come.

The Pico Platform – AKA “Pico Infinity Machine”

The Pico Platform is the ‘Heart of Gold’ of the Pico Ecosystem. Infinity’s three ports (two analog and one multifunction) can handle a mix of functions concurrently. Its One Hundred and Forty Two (thereabouts anyway!) components on a 120mm x 80mm PCB, a bundle of very clever engineering (a very big thanks to Norman) and a selection of Pico Pods really packs a punch, delivering a professional, highly versatile, configurable, and economical Maker Helper. Its modular design allows you to fine tune your instrument to just what you need. Let’s look at the reverse side first.

The RP2350 on a Pico 2 (marked “A” in the image) takes care of signal capture and initial processing while a second RP2350 on a Pico 2W (“B”) provides control functions, display functions for an optionally installed (desirable but not necessary) 2.8 inch 320 x 240 Display and Wireless interfacing with a remote device (e.g., smartphone, PC, Tablet). This approach simplifies software development that can be divided into two more or less independent streams. And yes, most importantly the software is open source, so if you don’t like what we or someone else provides, you can twiddle with it to your hearts content to get just what you need with the help of Python (not the one shown on John’s office balcony – yes true, although ‘office’ is used very loosely, more like part of ensuite bathroom under renovation after his charming wife relocated him from the dining table!) or a touch of “C”.
